My Brothers,
As I write this article, it is almost October and if you were not with us during September you missed some very nice meetings and dinners.
At the first meeting for September the brothers present voted to retain the Lodge Assessment at $20.00 for 2012. At the second meeting of September we had a Master Mason Degree and raised Bro. Harold Siskin to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Unfortunately, we only had four Brothers on the sidelines for this degree. That was very disappointing. We can and must do better! My Brothers, your officers cannot grasp why we cannot get you to come to Lodge. We, your Lodge and Masonry need you. If we are to become “wiser, better and consequently happier” as Masons, you need to come to Lodge and join us in good and great works. If any of you have reasons for not attending Lodge, please let me know. Maybe together, we can remedy those reasons and you will again attend Lodge on a regular basis.
On September 24th, we had our Awards Night together with the Lodge’s 10 and 25 Year Past Masters Nights. The event, attended by more than 55 brothers, their ladies and guests, was held at Ashlar Village. The food and drink was excellent as it always is there. For those that did not attend, you missed a very good event. We had brothers in attendance who received their pins ranging from 5-60 years of service. Unfortunately our 50 year Brother could not attend as well as our 65 to 75 year Brothers.
October will be busy with a regular business meeting on October 5th with Spanish refreshments prepared by Brother Eliazib Rivera. We will have an EA Degree and Lodge Evaluation by our District Deputy on October 19th. I hope we will have a large attendance at this Degree for the benefit of our candidate(s).
At our November 2nd Communication we are having the first Cosmopolitan Lodge Military Veterans Night. I hope all of the Lodge Brothers that are veterans of any branch of our country’s armed forces will attend so we can thank them for their service and they can share their service experiences with us.
At our December 21st Communication we will be having a Fellow Craft Degree with all Officers moving up and Senior Warden Stephen Smith in the East. Again, I hope we have many brothers in attendance.
To those Brothers of the Jewish Faith, I want to wish you and your families a happy and sweet new year – L'shanah tovah to all! I do hope to see many more of you my brothers during the remainder of my year and beyond! The more of you that attend will make our lodge strong and vibrant; allow us to support the good community work we have planned and to meet in the spirit of good fellowship, service to our community and fraternity.
