| From the East -- December 2011 |

My Brothers,
I cannot believe I am writing my December article. But since I am, it means my year is almost over. Also, our Annual Meeting is almost upon us. Those Brothers that attend meetings make decisions in the Lodge. Attending the annual meeting will be a good time to renew acquaintances and friendships and to influence the future of our Lodge. Come and hear the annual reports, meet old and new Brothers. One of, if not the most important activities is the selection of next year’s officers. For you to have a say in what occurs and to influence the future course of the Lodge, you have to show up and vote. As this year’s Worshipful Master, I urge you to come out to the Annual Meeting and make your voice heard!
On 2 November 2011, we had the Lodge’s first Veterans Night. The Lodge thanked all Veterans for their service. The best part of the evening was the attendance of Brother Paul Nelkin, his wife Frances and their son Doug. Brother Paul was raised in 1959 in our Lodge and is an Army Veteran of World War II in the European Theater. It was a pleasure having Brother Paul and his family with us that night.
I want to remind everyone that we are having the Lodge’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 4:30PM. Please make your reservations with the Junior Warden.
At our December 7 Stated Communication we will have our Annual Communication and election of Officers for 2012. Please plan to attend this important Communication! At our December 21 Communication we will be having a Fellow Craft Degree with all Officers moving up and Senior Warden Stephen Smith in the East. Again, I hope we have many brothers in attendance.
I want to remind everyone that we are still collecting non-perishable food items for our Food Dive for the hungry in New Haven. So please bring something to donate when you come to lodge. Additionally, we are collecting warm coats, gloves, etc. for those in need in New Haven. Please bring what ever you can donate to lodge with you.
I do hope to see many more of you in Lodge my brothers during the remainder of my year and beyond! The more of you that attend will make our lodge strong, vibrant; allow us to support the good community work we have planned and to meet in the spirit of good fellowship, service to our community and fraternity.
Fraternally, Steven J. Elzholz Worshipful Master |
