OUTGOING VIEW FROM THE EAST
My Brothers,
As this is my last message, I want to thank all who have been there for me when needed during my year in the East. Congratulations to the officers elected and appointed for 2012. I hope you have a great year!
As many Masters and Past Masters have said many times, Listen and Hear at all meetings. Everything is done for specific reasons. What you learn as you advance to the East is all very important. We all must continue to learn as I am still learning too.
Also, keep a good relationship with the Past Masters: they are the “backbone” of the Lodge. They have the knowledge and experience that will be of great help to you.
I wish to thank all the Brothers for the honor and privilege of being the 2011 Master of our Lodge.
I want to wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy Holiday Season and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Fraternally, WB Steven J. Elzholz, Worshipful Master
INCOMING VIEW FROM THE EAST
My Brothers,
When I joined the officer line, being elected Master was far from my thoughts. I was content to perform the tasks at hand to the best of my abilities and did not focus much on what seemed to be a fair distance away. That distance closed rapidly and now I find myself having been elected to the East. I am proud and humbled that the Brothers of Cosmopolitan have seen fit to complete my ascension through the chairs by casting their ballots in my favor. I will do my best to fulfill the duties that you have placed in my charge and will always be grateful for the opportunity to lead this Lodge.
Like many new Masters, I have several programs that I will be presenting to the Lodge in the ensuing year. The first of which will to be to continue some of the work that WB Elzholz began in his year with the increased emphasis on Community Service. The increased economic hardships that many are enduring require more of an effort from anyone who has the slightest inclination to assist others. However helpful it may be, merely writing a check is no longer good enough. If we are truly a service organization, our efforts must be above and beyond putting pen to paper. Let us be an example for others to follow and we will attract new members. Towards that end, beginning January 29, we will be volunteering at the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen on the last Sunday of every month. For more information see myself or Bro. Jonathan Glassman.
There will be more social activities in the coming months as well. The first of which will be the semi-public Burns Supper on January 28. There have been notices sent and there are flyers in several places in the Lodge Building. Come and support this event and you will not go away hungry, thirsty or dissatisfied. There will be a silent auction to benefit the newly formed Cub Scout Pack 125. Please assist with donations of items to the auction so some New Haven kids can begin their Scouting careers knowing that they are supported. If any of you know of people who are interested in joining our Fraternity, stay tuned for more information on activities that potential Brothers will be welcome to attend.
I am very much looking forward to serving you this year and am fully confident that with your assistance and participation we will have a great year. I will see you in Lodge.
